WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams opened up its season at the Tom Hoffman Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. The men finished in third-place, out of a 13-team field, with a total score of 119. The women finished in fifth out of a 15-team field with a total score of 201.

Abraham Skwira (Holdingford, MN/Holdingford) led the UWSP men as he finished in 12th place out of 157 runners. Skwira crossed the finish line with a time of 28:37.0.
Noah Schulze (Land O'Lakes, WI/Northland Pines/) followed Skwira finishing 22nd. Schulze's ran a time off 28:58.2.
In his first race as a freshman,
Colton Kaszuba (Neenah, Wis. /Neenah) followed in 27th place. Kaszuba finished his first race with a time of 29:11.7.
Nico LaBracke shortly followed Kaszuba, where he finished 32nd. LaBracke finished his 8k time in 29:21.7.
Preston Mertins (Colby, WI/Colby) crossed the finish line with a time of 29:27.1, good for 35th-place.
On the women's side,
Alexis Anderson (Wausau, Wis. /D.C. Everest) led the Pointers in the first race of the season. Anderson finished in 33rd, out of 155 athletes. She finished with a time of 27:25.3.
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis. /SPASH) followed Anderson for UWSP. Peters' time of 27:28.5 earned her a 36th-place finish.
Erinn Olmsted (Green Bay, WI/East) finished shortly after Peters in 38th-place. Olmsted finisher her first race of the season in 27:31.4.
Annika McGill (Hudson, WI/Hudson) and
Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, WI/Central) finished in 71st and 72nd respectively. The pair finished with times of 29:21.5 and 29:21.6.
The Pointers travel to Rock Island, Ill. for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday (Sept. 22). The invite is slated to start at 4:30 P.M.
