Cross Country Splits Squads to Race in Two States

The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams splits squads on Saturday sending two squads to the Cowbell Classic (Pre-Nationals) in Elsah, Ill., and UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational.  At the Cowbell Classic, the men finished 23rd out of 38 teams.  For the women, they finished in 18th among 36 teams.  In Oshkosh, the men finished in 14th out of a 26-team field and the women finished in 20th out of 24 teams.

Alex Egbert (Sparta, WI/Aquinas) led the men with an 87th-place finish with a time of 26:29.86.  Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) followed behind Egbert in 109th with a time of 26:43.28. 

Robert Lutz (Greendale, WI/Greendale) finished with a time of 26:56.68 earned him a 131st-place finish. 

Freshman Jonas Bietz (Madison, Wis./Memorial) had finished in the top 200 out of 354 athletes.  He finished with a time of 27:15.77, finishing in 155th. 

For the women, Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, WI/Oconto Falls) paced the Pointers where she finished in 70th with a time of 23:24.35. 

Teammate Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein) finished 20 seconds behind Wolf finished with a 90th-place finish out of 332 athletes.

Kara Hoier (New London, WI/New London) followed four places behind in 94th with a time of 23:47.83. Bailey Boudreau (Wausau, WI/East) finished with a time of 24:35.83, which gave her a finishing place of 150th.

UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational (Men's Results | Women's Results)
Abraham Skwira (Holdingford, MN/Holdingford) led the Pointers in Oshkosh as he finished in 70th place.  Skwira paced his race at 5:30, which gave him a time of 27:18.2. 

Sophomore Josh Schaefer (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) followed Skwira with a 5:32 pace, for a time of 27:29.3, which earned him an 87th-place finish. 

Preston Mertins (Colby, WI/Colby) finished with a time of 27:43.2, a 5:35 pace.  Mertin's time earned him a 101st-place finish out of 351 athletes.  Colton Kaszuba (Neenah, Wis. /Neenah) finished in in 109th place with a time of 27:48.0. 

For the women, Sam Ritter (Prescott, Wis. /Prescott) paced the squad where she finished with a time of 25:48.12 for a 127th-place finish. 

Alexis Anderson (Wausau, Wis. /D.C. Everest) finished in 135th place and crossed the finish line with a time of 25:55.27. 

Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, WI/Central) finished with a time of 26:18.55, a pace of 7:04.  Her time earned a place of 165th. 

Rachel Halbach (Kiel, Wis. /Kiel) finished in 187th with a time of 26:40.15, a pace of 7:10. 

The Pointers travel back to Oshkosh, Wis. for the Oshkosh Open on Friday, Oct. 20.  The meet set to start at 1:15 p.m., the final tune-up before the WIAC Championships.
