LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point Swimming and Diving team traveled to La Crosse on Saturday compete in a dual meet with UW-La Crosse. The men won with a score of 161.5, while the women finished second with a score of 55.
Results
In the 200-yard breaststroke, teammates
Justin Fernandez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) and
Jackson Aton (Berlin, Wis./Berlin) went first and third. The pair finished with times of 2:14.20 and 2:17.39.
In the men's three-meter diving event, reigning WIAC Diver of the Week
Owen Gluck (West Bend, Wis./East) finished with a score of 290.65, a score good for first. Gluck finished the one-meter diving event with a score of 261.55, 2.4 points behind the event winner.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West) finished in first place. Englehardt finished the race with a time of 20.91. Englehardt later teamed with
Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, Wis./),
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./) and
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:30.41, good for first. Englehardt also teamed with
Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East),
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West), and
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./) in the 400-yard freestyle with a second-place time of 3:09.74.
Bott with his contribution to the 400-yard medley relay, also earned a set of top place finishes. Bott finished first in the 200-yard backstroke and second in the 200 yard IM. Bott finished the races with times of 2:02.07 and 2:00.93, respectively.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./) finished in first place. Aegerter finished with a time of 1:58.65. Moser finished in first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.13. Moser also finished the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.07, a time good for first.
Nate Somers (Oshkosh, Wis./West) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:06.18. Teammate
Michael Mills (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) followed with a second-place finish and a time of 10:18.92. Somers also picked up an additional win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.59.
Missy Angove picked up a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle for the women. Angove finished with a time of 2:20.96.
In the women's one-meter diving event,
Jackie Braun (Sauk Rapids, Minn./) finished in second place, a total score of 264.95. Braun later finished the three-meter diving event with of 256.55 good for third
Bridget Flesher (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) finished in second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.66.
Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, Wis./) finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.96.
Eric Perkins in the 50-yard freestyle placed third with a time of 26.09.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Angove, Eric Perkins,
Kassie Yeazel (Whitewater, Wis./), and
Murron Roff (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) finished with a third place finish with a time of 3:56.06.
Yeazel finished the 100-yard freestyle with a fifth-place finish. Yeazel swam a time of 58.55.
The Pointers travel to Minneapolis, Minn. on February 2 and 3 for the University of Minnesota meet. The meet is set to begin at 12:00.
