STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team swept a pair of matches today, hosting Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) 8-1 and Loras College 5-4.

The Pointers (3-1) took the first four points, sweeping doubles play and the first match in singles. The Raiders (0-2) earned their lone point in No. 2 singles play as Carly Grant defeated
Erin Lemmer (Wausau, WI/East) 6-1 6-1.
Frances Weiss (Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton),
Abbey Johnson (Black River Falls, WI/Black River Falls),
Jordan Tyjeski (Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) and
Kaylee Roberts (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) took care of business the rest of the way, allowing their opponents just 10 wins between the four matches.

The Pointers and Duhawks (1-1) played a tight match that came down to the wire.
After sweeping their doubles matches, No. 1 Katelyn Ansfeld started the Pointers off strong with a 6-2 6-0 victory. The Pointers needed just one more singles win to win the match. The Duhawks didn't go down without a fight taking the next three matches. No. 5
Jordan Tyjeski (Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) came up clutch with a 3-6 6-4 (10-6) win.
UWSP looks to continue their winning ways as they begin WIAC Conference play traveling to UW-La Crosse Sat., September 10. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
