No. 24 Pointers fall to St. Thomas in 11 innings

Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team fell victim to a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eleventh inning on Tuesday, losing to St. Thomas 10-9 at Lake Myrtle Field.

With the score tied at nine in the eleventh inning, Sam Barr hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Cory Quinlan, giving the Tommies the extra-inning victory.

Cody Hanke (Marathon, WI/Marathon) put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for UWSP on the day. He singled in the third and fifth innings, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.

Alex Ogren recorded the win for St. Thomas. He pitched two shutout innings. Alex Ogren struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.

Heinrich Walder (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) took the loss for the Pointers. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

Hanke led the Pointers with four this on the afternoon while Greco, and Peter Strommen (Madison, WI/East) each tallied multiple hits on the day.

The Pointers (1-4) return to action Wednesday, March 23 against Washington & Jefferson
