STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by UW-Whitewater in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match on Wednesday afternoon at University Courts.
Box Score UW-Whitewater (7-0, 3-0 WIAC) lost six games in doubles and nine in singles to sweep UW-Stevens Point (3-5, 0-2 WIAC).
The closest doubles match came at the second spot, where
Kaylee Roberts (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) and
Katelyn Asfeld (Waukesha, WI/Waukesha West) lost 8-3 to Brigid McGuire and Ashley Mille.
Emily Kleist (Muskego, WI/Muskego) and
Nicole Thorson (Ripon, WI/Ripon) went down 8-2 at the top spot and
Abbey Johnson (Black River Falls, WI/Black River Falls) and
Jordan Tyjeski (Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) fell 8-1 at third doubles.
Kleist played the closest singles match of the day, falling 6-2, 6-2 to McGuire at second singles. Asfeld lost 6-1, 6-2 to Gabi Kitchell at first singles.
UW-Stevens Point takes on UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. at University Courts.
