Erin Lemmer (Wausau, WI/Wausau East) and Kayla Maller picked up singles victories and Nicole Thorson and
Samantha Gengler (Slinger, WI/Slinger) were victorious in doubles as the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Messiah College on Friday at Hilton Head High School.
Box Score Lemmer defeated Kelly Hopkins 6-2, 6-3 at second singles to improve to 10-6 this season, while Maller leveled her record at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Meagan Scala at the sixth spot for UW-Stevens Point (5-11).
Messiah (5-1) won two singles matches in super tiebreakers to clinch the win, as
Katelyn Asfeld (Waukesha, WI/Waukesha West) was defeated 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 at first singles by Ashli Livermore and Thorson was edged 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 at the third spot by Jennifer Kitlan.
Thorson and Gengler's match with Kitlan and Emily Doron at second doubles went all the way to a tiebreaker but the duo gave the Pointers a point from doubles with the win.
UW-Stevens Point returns to Wisconsin to face St. Norbert and Concordia (Wis.) in Mequon on April 12.
