OSHKOSH, Wis. – Jaden Boivin (Marinette, WI/Marinette) and Ian Alberstett (Davis, IL/Durand) earned their respective weight class titles and eight other Pointers placed as the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team competed at the Dan Gable Open on Saturday, Nov. 14. No team scores were kept at the event.
 
Boivin went 4-0 on the day on his way to the 157-pound title, picking up victories by pin, major decision and two decisions. Alberstett won the 197-pound crown going 3-0 and securing wins by tech fall and two pins including one in 31 seconds in the semifinal and one in the title match in 3:19.
 
Elsewhere for the Pointers, David Granatelli (Appleton, WI/Appleton North) posted a runner-up finish at 149-pound and Joe Crook (Spring Green, WI/River Valley) (157), Mitchell Lambrecht (Sheboygan Falls, WI/Sheboygan Falls) (165), Tony Britton (Grantsburg, WI/Grantsburg) (197) and Dominic Gunderson (Hortonville, WI/Shiocton) (285) posted third place showings on the day.
 
Boone Roycraft (Omro, WI/Winneconne) was fourth at 157-pounds, Blaz Daul (De Pere, WI/Freedom) fifth at 165-pounds and James Borgen (Amherst, WI/Amherst) rounded out the place finishers with a sixth at 174-pounds.
 
The Pointers open the dual meet and conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 17 when they travel back to Oshkosh for a 7 p.m. showdown with the UW-Oshkosh Titans.
