Easton Hull (Waupun, Wis./Waupun) got an overtime win in the consolation bracket to earn All-America accolades as he advanced to day two of the NCAA Championships with the win.
Results
Hull had an inauspicious start to his day dropping a major decision in his opening bout in the 184 bracket. He rebounded with an 11-0 major decision in his first bout in the consolation bracket. Then in his nightcap, he battled a foe from SUNY Oneota to a 1-1 tie through regulation. With 26 seconds left in overtime, he was awarded a point on a stalling call to earn All-America honors.
Three other Pointers competed at the NCAA Championships.
Riese Thornberry (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) opened the day with a 5-2 decision loss in the 149 bracket. In his second bout, he dropped a tech fall outcome.
In the 165 bracket,
Dylan Cariveau (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) dropped both his bout my major decision.
Caleb Nobiling (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) began the day by losing by fall in the 141 bracket. He dropped a major decision in his second bout.
Hull returns to action at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Mar. 14).
