EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team advanced eight wrestlers on to day two of the NCAA Region VII Championships.
 
Results
 
Riese Thornberry (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) went 2-0 with wins by major decision and fall in the 149 bracket. Dylan Cariveau (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) got two wins in the championship bracket at 165, one by decision and one by major decision.
 
Carson Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) also went 2-0 with wins by fall and tech fall in the 174 bracket. Easton won both his matches in the 184 bracket, one each by tech fall and decision.
 
Caleb Nobiling (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) moved on to Saturday with a decision win in the consolation bracket at 141. Deakin Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) got a win by fall in the 157 consolation bracket to advance to Saturday.
 
Logan Neitzel (Lomira, Wis./Lomira) picked up a first-period win by fall in the 197 consolation bracket. At 285, Jack Callen (Portage, Wis./Portage) won a decision in his first bout and moved on with a win by fall in the consolation bracket.
 
Luca Paladino (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) earned a win by tech fall in the 125 bracket.
 
The NCAA Regionals resume on Saturday (Feb.28) at 9:00 a.m.
