Hull Wins Regional Title, Four Pointers Advance to NCAA Championships

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team finished up the NCAA Region VII Championships on Saturday and four wrestlers advanced to next month's NCAA Championships.

Easton Hull (Waupun, Wis./Waupun) won the title in the 184 bracket. He won his semifinal bout by tech fall to secure a spot at the NCAA Championships. In the bracket title bout, Hull got an 8-6 decision win.
 
Riese Thornberry (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) advanced with a second-place finish in the 149 bracket. He locked up a spot at the NCAA Championships with a 1-0 decision win in the semifinals. He came up short in the final by a 6-4 decision.
 
Caleb Nobiling (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) is headed to nationals after taking third in the 141 bracket. He won all three bouts on Saturday, two by fall and one by decision.
 
Dylan Cariveau (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) also continued his season with a third-place finish in the 165 bracket. He started his day with a tech fall defeat to move to the consolation bracket. There, he won 10-9 and 7-2 decisions to finish third.
 
Carson Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) took fourth in the 174 bracket. He earned a win by major decision in the consolation bracket.
 
Logan Neitzel (Lomira, Wis./Lomira) placed fifth in the 197 bracket. He won a decision and a tech fall on the day.
 
Deakin Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) finished sixth in the 157 bracket. He earned a win by fall in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
 
Jack Callen (Portage, Wis./Portage) came in seventh in the 285 bracket. He picked up a win by fall in the seventh-place bout.
 
Hull, Thornberry, Cariveau and Nobiling will head to the NCAA Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 13.
