Lake Forest (12-5-3) opened the scoring five minutes into the second period but UW-Stevens Point (16-4-2) scored the last seven goals of the game. Six different players scored for the Pointers, led by Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater)'s two goals, which gave the senior a five-point weekend.

Salmen's first goal of the game, the eventual game-winning goal, came at 14:41 of the second period, just 36 seconds after Kendall Nelson (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) had tied the score at 1. Just over three minutes later, Rachel Reynard (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville), who had a season-best three points, made it 3-1.

In the third period, UWSP scored four more times. Salmen skated through the Foresters defense for her second goal of the game at 3:25, an unassisted goal. Megan Menotti (Vernon Hills, IL/Chicago Mission) then set up Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie)'s goal before scoring a goal of her own on the power play.

Hailey Rock (Hammond, WI/Central) capped the scoring at 10:30 of the third period, as goalie Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) earned the second assist of her career. Beilke-Skoug also made 17 saves in net for UW-Stevens Point, including a pair of big saves early in the game.

UWSP outshot Lake Forest 25-11 over the first two periods and 31-18 for the game. Four of the six shots the Pointers took in the final period resulted in goals.

UW-Stevens Point was 1-for-3 and had eight shots on the power play and held Lake Forest scoreless on four attempts, including a lengthy 5-on-3 early in the third period.

The seven goals scored were the most in a game by the Pointers this season. The game marked the first time this season the Foresters, who entered the game second in the country in scoring (5.00 goals per game), were held to under two goals.

UW-Stevens Point hits the road to face No. 7/8 UW-Superior next weekend. The Pointers and Yellowjackets play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 and 2 p.m. the following afternoon. The teams split a series in Stevens Point on Nov. 22-23.
