The Pointers Megan Nickelson (North St. Paul, MN/North) struck first 5:36 into the games first period, giving UWSP the 1-0 advantage.

Marian answered six minutes later when Amanda Waigand found the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1.

In the second, Lester tallied her seventh and eighth goals of the season, one on the power play, to propel the Pointers in front, 3-1, after two periods.

In the third, Hannah Smith (Spokane, WA/East Valley) tallied her third goal of the year off assists from Rock and Josi Johnson to put the Pointers ahead for good, 4-1.

Hillary Drake (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) stopped 17 of 18 shots the Sabres took on net while the Pointers peppered Marian goaltender Ali Glazer with 30 shots on net.

UW-Stevens Point (17-4-4, 7-2-3 WIAC) awaits the results of conference play this weekend, which will determine its seed in the upcoming WIAC tournament.

The Pointers are guaranteed to host a two-game series Feb. 28-March 1 at Ice Hawks Arena against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
