WHEATON, Ill. - The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming team finished second of five teams and the women were fourth after the two day Wheaton Invite.

On the women's side, the Pointers were led by Amanda Walker, who finished third in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly, posting times of 1:53.56 and 2:10.56, respectively in the championship finals. She also finished fourth in the finals of the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 5:05.48.
Alexa Pronga finished fourth in the 100 butterfly, positing a finals time of 59.07.
The 200 free relay of Amy Boritzke, Gemma Pillsburry, Pronga and Walker finished third with a time of 1:36.81. The quartet also posted a fourth place showing in the 400 free relay, finishing in a time of 3:34.40.
Cassie Matthys joined Boritzke, Pronga and Walker in the 200 medley relay, where the Pointers finished third with a time of 1:47.68.
On the men's side, freshmen Sam Jekel and Andrew King finished 1-2 in the 50 freestyle, finishing with times of 21.31 and 21.52, respectively. Jack Engelhardt was fourth with a 21.63.
Jekel also posted a NCAA "B" cut time in the 100 free with a time of 45.61.
Hans Peters and Luuk Dekkers finished 1-2 in the finals of the 200 free, with Peters posting a "B" cut time of 1.41.21 and Dekkers finishing in 1:42.37. Peters qualified for the finals with a prelim time of 1:41.14.
Evan Catani posted a fourth place finish in the 1650 free, posting a "B" cut time of 16:13.22 in the finals.
Ethan Bott finished fourth in the 100 and 200 backstroke with a times of 53.02 and 1:54.72, respectively.
Alex Loftus finished third in the finals of the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 2:06.99.
Sam Jekel posted a "B" cut time in the 100 butterfly, finishing second in the championship final with a 49.74.
The 200 free relay of Peters, Zach Ogureh, Jack Englehardt and Jekel took home top spot in the event with their time of 1:24.23.
Peters, Jekel, Kyle McNair and Dekkers were the top finishers in the 400 free relay with a "B" cut time of 3:04.50.
Ethan Bott, Loftus, Jekel and Frank Peters finished second in the 400 medley relay, posting a time of 3:25.77.
The Pointers return to action after the holiday break with the two-day Point Invite January 17-18 in Stevens Point. Action both day's begins at 10 a.m.
