MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – Megan Nickelson (North St. Paul, MN/North)'s goal midway through the third period was the lone goal of the game as the sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of St. Thomas with a 1-0 win on Saturday.

Nickelson's goal was her second goal of the season and came at the 10:39 mark of the final period. UW-Stevens Point (11-1-1) was outshot 35-20 in the game by St. Thomas (5-3-1) but Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made 35 saves in her third shutout of the season.
The win was the fifth in a row for UWSP and the team's eighth one-goal victory of the season. Beilke-Skoug made 26 saves over the first two periods, as the Pointers were outshot 16-10 over the first two periods.
Both defenses were on top throughout the game and both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play. UW-Stevens Point killed off two St. Thomas power plays in the first period with Beilke-Skoug making five saves while down a skater.
The Pointers are off until the new year when they face St. Norbert on Jan. 3-4.
