Box Score MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The No. 6 UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team overcame a 2-0 deficit, scoring three straight goals in its seventh one-goal win of the season, a 3-2 victory over St. Thomas on Friday night.

After 25 minutes of play, the Tommies (5-2-1) led 2-0 thanks to a pair of goals by Kelsey Barnier. However, a goal from
Hailey Rock (Hammond, WI/Central) and two goals from
Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) netted the Pointers (10-1-1) the road win.
Rock's second-period goal, her second of the year, cut the UWSP deficit in half headed to the third period. In the third, Salmen scored the game-tying and game-winning goals to bring her tally to eight on the season.
The tying goal came on a breakaway at 10:47 and came off
Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake)'s second assist of the game. Salmen then scored her second game-winning goal of the season 3:05 later from the left corner, sneaking a shot under UST goalie Taylor Neisen. The game-winner was assisted by
Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial).
UW-Stevens Point held a 36-33 advantage in shots in the contest. Both teams were 1-for-4 on the power play, with the Pointers taking nine of their 36 shots on the power play. UWSP killed off a UST power play in the final five minutes of the game and survived the final minute and a half of the game as St. Thomas pulled Neisen in search of a tying goal of its own.
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made 31 saves in the win, including 10 in the third period. Neisen made 27 of her 33 saves in the first two periods for St. Thomas.
The two teams play again on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
