Pointers, Cobbers skate to scoreless tie

Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn.- Neither team was able to score in 65 minutes of play as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team skated to a 0-0 tie with Concordia-Moorhead on Friday evening at the Moorhead Sports Center.

The tie extends the Pointers unbeaten start to the 2013-14 season to three games (2-0-1). UW-Stevens Point has never lost to Concordia-Moorhead in six tries and had won the previous five meetings.

Concordia-Moorhead outshot UW-Stevens Point 22-18 for the game. Amber Schaack had a game-high six shots for the Cobbers, while seven different Pointers had two shots each.

Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made 22 saves in net for the Pointers, including 17 over the first two periods. Her counterpart Madison Denny made 12 of her 18 saves in the third period and overtime.

UWSP killed off three Cobbers power plays in the game. The Pointers had just 39 seconds on the power play.

The two teams square off at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
