Josh Daley (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin Catholic) scored twice and six other players scored as the No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team defeated Gustavus Adolphus 8-4 on Friday night at K.B. Willett Arena.

The Pointers (3-0) scored three times in each of the first two periods to build a 6-2 lead entering the third period. Gustavus (1-2) managed two third-period goals but could not get any close than 6-3.
Kyle Politz (Apple Valley, MN/Apple Valley), Daley, and
Nick D'Avolio (North Riverside, IL/) all scored in the first period for UWSP. Corey Leivermann scored just 26 seconds after Politz's opener for the Gusties.
Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) had two assists in the period for the Pointers.
After
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) scored for UWSP, Nate Paulsen got Gustavus back in it at 4-2 near the midway point of the second period. However, the Pointers quickly responded, scoring twice in the next four minutes to establish a 6-2 advantage.
Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) scored from
Max Bobrow (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and
Kyle Brodie (Denver, CO/Northglenn) before Ladd scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season from
Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) and Brodie.
Sharkey scored an unassisted goal in the third off a Gustavus turnover to make it 7-3. Daley then picked up his second goal of the game on the power play with just over four minutes to play. Ladd's assist on Daley's second gave him a goal and three helpers for the game.
The Pointers outshot the Gusties 33-26 for the game and five UWSP players had multi-point games.
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) made 22 saves, including 12 in the second period, to pick up the win.
Both teams had five opportunities on the power play in a game that included 21 penalties. UW-Stevens Point has scored at least six goals in each game this season and has 25 in three games.
The Pointers conclude the weekend with a game against St. Olaf on Saturday night at 7 p.m at K.B. Willett Arena.
