MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (12-13-2) dropped a 1-0 final to No. 12 UW-Stout (20-5-1) in the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) semifinal round. UWSP allowed just 11 shots on goal, the fewest since a program record six were allowed against Northland on March 5, 2021.
UWSP put on a defensive clinic in the first period. Pointers' goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) needed to make just one save to keep the game scoreless through one period.
Proctor was tested six times in the second period and made all six saves as the game headed to the third deadlocked at 0-0.
With 6:31 remaining in regulation, the Blue Devils got on the board, just one of 11 shots allowed by the Pointers in the game. It proved to be the game-winner as Stout goaltender Sebastian Monaco stopped all 25 UWSP shots to earn the win.
Proctor ends his four-year UWSP career with 48 wins in 81 games played. He posted a 2.23 goals against average and a 0.919 save percentage for his career.
