Jamie Ertl (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) and
Kendall Nelson (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) and 19 saves from
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) to hand No. 6 UW-Superior its first loss of the season, a 2-1 decision in favor of the Pointers Friday evening at Ice Hawks Arena.

After a scoreless opening period, Ertl put the Pointers (6-0-1, 3-0-0 WIAC) on the board at the 7:12 mark of the second, scoring her second goal of the season off an assist from
Rachel Reynard (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville).
With 4:26 remaining in the second, Karen Larson scored for the Yellowjackets, knotting the score at 1-1 after two periods of action.
At 5:18 of the third, Nelson tallied her second goal of the season, the eventual game-winner, off assists from
Ava Plamondon (Blackhawk, CO/Nederland) and
Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater).
Beilke-Skoug earned the win, her fifth of the year, after stopping 19 of 20 UWS shots on net.
UW-Stevens Point held a 35-20 edge in shots on target for the evening.
The Pointers and Yellowjackets (4-1-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) close out their weekend series on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
