Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) had a hand in all four goals as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team began their 2013-14 season with a 4-0 non-conference win over visiting St. Olaf on Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena.

Salmen had a goal and three assists and four different players scored for UW-Stevens Point (1-0-0). St. Olaf (0-1-0) had 32 shots in the game but were unable to get anything by UWSP goalie

Salmen assisted on the first three goals for the Pointers and capped the scoring in the third period with a power-play tally. Salmen set up
Megan Menotti (Vernon Hills, IL/Chicago Mission) to open the scoring at the 5:56 mark of the opening period. She then helped set up power-play goals by
Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and
Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) in the second and third periods as UWSP extended their lead.
The Pointers recorded 40 shots in the game, led by Salmen's seven. UWSP also capitalized on three of their six power-play opportunities in the game, while St. Olaf could not take advantage in seven chances with an extra skater.
The two teams finish the weekend series on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
