STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team defeated the Blue Devils of UW-Stout by a score of 7-2 to record its second win of season Saturday morning.
The Pointers made a clean sweep in doubles competition as the No. 1 team of
Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) and
Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble) defeated Cornelius/Grossen (8-3), No. 2 doubles of
Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) &
Allison Fortier (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) defeated Denny/Pederson (9-7) and the No. 3 doubles
Lauren Steinkamp (Lake in the Hills, IL/H.D. Jacobs) &
Natalie Cardenas (Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater Area) defeated Grawaski/Burda (8-2).
In singles action, the Pointers recorded wins at No. 1, 3, 5 and 6, as Brown, Weuve, Fortier and
Molly Hendries (Menasha, WI/Menasha) all defeated their counterparts in straight sets.
The Pointers (2-6, 1-3 WIAC) will be back in action Friday, Oct. 5 as they travel to Eau Claire to take on the Blugold, action set for 3:30 p.m.
