Pointers drop home opener to River Falls 6-3

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team lost its home opener against UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon, 6-3.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead over the Pointers after doubles competition and didn't look back.

The No. 2 doubles team of Kaitlyn Presti and Lauren Steinkamp (Lake in the Hills, IL/H.D. Jacobs) recorded the only Pointers victory in doubles competition, defeating River Falls' duo of Swanson/Vanderiet.

The No. 1 and 6 singles of Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) and Allie Fortier tallied the only two singles victories for the Pointers on the day as the Falcons recorded wins at No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 singles to hold on for the victory.

UW-Stevens Point (1-5) returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 26 as it travels to Whitewater to take on the Warhawks in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up. Matches begin at 3:30 p.m.
