APPLETON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team fell to Lawrence University Tuesday afternoon 5-4 in nonconference action.

The Pointers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles competition but couldn't hold on, eventually fell to Lawrence University 5-4.
The Pointers started out strong in the doubles competition, winning two of three matches. The No.1 doubles team of
Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) and Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble) defeated Lawrence's Roesch/Schaupp 8-5.
The Pointers No. 2 doubles team of
Katelyn Presti (Janesville, WI/Parker) and Lauren Steinkamp (Lake in the Hills, IL/H.D. Jacobs) also picked up a, defeating Lawrence's Geoffrey/Heiring 9-7.
The No. 1 and 2 singles of Brown and Weuve tallied the only two singles victories for the Pointers on the day as Lawrence recorded wins at No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 singles to secure the victory.
UW-Stevens Point (1-4) returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 when it open the home portion of the schedule, hosting UW-River Falls in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up. Action starts at the newly revamped University Courts at 9 a.m.
