BELOIT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team swept past Mount Mary College by a score of 9-0 to pick up its first win of the 2012 season Saturday morning.

The Pointers jumped out to the early 3-0 lead after doubles behind two 8-0 wins by the No. 2 and No. 3 teams of
Katelyn Presti (Janesville, WI/Parker) and
Lauren Steinkamp (Lake in the Hills, IL/H.D. Jacobs) and
Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) and
Allison Fortier (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander). The No. 1 team of Brown/Weuve also took home a win with an 8-1 win over Mount Mary's Wolk/Olson.
In singles action, all six of the Pointers secured straight set victories over Mount Mary, securing the shutout victory.
Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble), Fortier and Steinkamp all won their respective matches without losing a single game.
The second matches of the day against Beloit College were postponed to a later date due to weather.
The Pointers will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 8 at UW-La Crosse starting at 10 a.m.
