STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point tennis team received singles victories from
Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble) and
Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) on Saturday but it was not enough as the Pointers dropped matches against UW-La Crosse 8-1 and Lawrence University 8-1.

The Pointers fell behind 3-0 after doubles against Lawrence in the day's opening match. Weuve won the opening set of her No. 2 singles match 6-2 but fell 6-0 in the second set to force a super-tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Weuve won 10-2 to secure the victory.
Kristen Finstad (River Falls, WI/River Falls) also took her match at No. 6 singles to a tiebreak but fell 3-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Against La Crosse, the Pointers again fell behind 3-0 after doubles before Brown cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.
The Pointers (2-13) closes out the spring season April 28 with a pair of matches against St. Norbert and Wisconsin Lutheran at the Western Racquet & Fitness Club in Green Bay. Action begins at 10:30 a.m.
