Second period flurry powers Gustavus past Pointers

Box Score

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Four second period goals by the visiting Gusties helped sixth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus defeat the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team 6-0.

The Pointers, who had a four-game unbeaten streak entering the contest, surrendered the game's first goal just over 10 minutes in and the Gusties added a second on the power play later in the period to take a 2-0 advantage after one.

In the second, Gustavus scored three goals over a 35 second span including the second and third goals of the night by the Gusties' Allie Schwab as Gustavus built a 6-0 lead after two.

In the third, the Pointers threw a flurry of shots on net but were unable to break-up the shutout as the Gusties controlled the puck late to preserve the shutout.

UWSP (5-3-1) and Gustavus (10-0-1) return to the ice for the two-game series finale on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
