Men win, women fall in dual with UW-L

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team came away with a victory, while the women's team fell to UW-La Crosse Saturday at the UWSP Aquatic Center.
 
The men won the dual with a score of 165-78 while the women lost 155-88 to the Eagles.
 
On the men's side, Joey Clapp took first in three events, the men's 50-yard freestyle (20.50), 100-yard freestyle (47.11) and was a part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.26).
 
Sam Davy placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.02) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:35.46) and second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.26).
 
Luuk Dekkers and Alex Loftus also did well for the Pointers, as Dekkers placed first in 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and Loftus placed first in the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard breaststroke.
 
For the women, Andrea Wagner placed first in 50-yard freestyle (24.90) while Maddy Pielow took first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.54 and Elizabeth Schaffer placed first in one-meter dive with a score of 252.50.
 
UWSP men and women return to action Feb. 3 as they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the Minnesota Challenge.
