Women's hockey falls to St. Scholastica, 3-2

STEVENS POINT, Wis. –The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team fell to St. Scholastica 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Ice Hawks Arena.
 
After recording two points in Friday's matchup, Brooke Hanson (Maple Grove, MN/Maple Grove) continued to spark the Point offense as she scored the first goal of the game at the 7:13 mark of the first period. Ariel Novak (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) earned the assist on the play.
 
UWSP came out strong in the second period, with Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) scoring the second Pointers goal thanks to assists from Nicole Shaub and Novak.
 
However, the rest of the period was all Saints, as they scored twice to even the score at two.
 
St. Scholastica scored the go-ahead goal with just over six minutes remaining in the game to give them the 3-2 victory.
 
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) recorded 25 saves in the loss while St. Scholastica's Shannon Connolly tallied 24.
 
UWSP (9-6-2, 8-3-1 NCHA) return to the ice Friday when they travel to UW-Superior for a weekend series.
