STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team took down UW-Stout 73-46 Wednesday night at Berg Gym.

The first half was sloppy for both squads as they combined for 35 turnovers. After three ties and three lead changes, UWSP was sparked by a Megan Lopez (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) steal that resulted in a layup by Brooke Allen (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld). The Pointers offense took control, taking a 35-25 lead into halftime.

UWSP came out strong in the second half and soon mounted a double-digit lead with the biggest gap coming at the seven-minute mark as the Pointers held a commanding 64-34 lead.

Taking advantage of Stout mistakes, UWSP scored 18 points off Blue Devils turnovers in the second half. The Pointers bench also tallied 22 points in the second half to give the home squad a 73-46 victory.

It was a cold-shooting night for both teams, as the Pointers shot 41.7 percent while Stout shot 31 percent from the field. UWSP was 30.8 percent from behind the arc and held the Blue Devils to 15.4 percent.

Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) and Alyssa Olp (Brillion, WI/Brillion) led all scorers with 13 points with Tyler also recording a game-high eight rebounds.

Whitney Rawdon led the Blue Devils (4-11, 0-6 WIAC) with a team-high 10 points and six rebounds.

UWSP (13-2, 5-1 WIAC) will be back in action Saturday as it travels to La Crosse to take on the Eagles for a men's and women's doubleheader. The women tip off at 3 p.m. with the men following at 5 p.m.
