UW-Stevens Point women's basketball senior Maija Rice (L'Anse, Mich./L'Anse Area) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region IX first team, it was announced on Monday (Mar. 16).

Rice picks up first-team all-region honors after leading the WIAC in scoring this season at 17.3 points per game. She was an All-WIAC first team selection after starting all 26 games. She was third in the conference with a .842 free-throw percentage and third in rebounding at 7.5 boards per game.
 
Rice becomes the first Pointer to land on the all-region first team since 2013 when Sam Barber earned the distinction. Rice is the second UWSP player to earn all-region honors in the last two years as Alexa Thomson (De Pere, Wis./West) was a second-team selection last year.
