MENOMONIE – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team snapped its six-match losing skid on Friday afternoon, and in the process picked up its first conference victory of the season with an 8-1 win over the Blue Devils of UW-Stout.
The Pointers jumped in front early and took a commanding 3-0 lead thanks to a sweep of all three doubles matches.
In singles, the Pointers'
Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) battled back from an early 6-3 loss to win in a third set tiebreak 10-8.

Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble),
Katelyn Presti (Janesville, WI/Parker),
Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) and
Allison Fortier (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) tallied straight set victories over the Blue Devils, as UW-Stevens Point earned the 8-1 victory.
UW-Stevens Point (2-6, 1-2 WIAC) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 with another conference match-up, this time against UW-River Falls. Match time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
