STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team suffered a pair of 8-1 losses on Saturday, falling in the day's first match to conference foe UW-La Crosse before dropping the nightcap to the University of St. Thomas.

Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) at No. 1 singles was the only winner of the day for the Pointers, defeating Mara Weiner of UW-La Crosse 4-6, 6-3 (10-7) in the day's opening match and then defeated St. Thomas' Mary Allen 6-4, 6-3 in the final match of the day.

The pair of losses drops the Pointers to 1-3 on the young season.

The Pointers return to action with a 9 a.m. match-up with Beloit College on Sunday, Sept. 18.
