KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming team is in sixth place while the women are 25
th after day one of the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
Highlights from the day included
Men's 200 medley finished fifth, as Joey Clapp (Faribault, MN/), Matt Olp (Oregon/Oregon), Ryan Farmer (Naperville, IL/) and Sam Davy (Stevens Point, WI/) earned All-American status with a time of 1:31.48.
Joey Clapp (Faribault, MN/) finished fourth in the 50 free, earning All-American status with his time of 20.47 in the event finals.
On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of Ashley Majewski (Elm Grove, WI/Catholic Memorial), Kelly Kading (De Pere, WI/), Lisa Clemens (Wisconsin Dells, WI/) and Jess Nordstrom (Hibbing, MN/Hibbing) finished 13th, posting a time of 1:46.50, good for honorable mention All-American status.
The Pointers return to action Thursday, March 24th when the 200 free relays and 400 medley relay teams take to the pool and individually Beth Ann Abraham (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) competes in the 400 IM and Ryan Farmer (Naperville, IL/) competes in the 100 butterfly.
