Pointers fall to seventh-ranked Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. – UW-Stevens Point dropped its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday evening, falling to seventh-ranked Gustavus Adolphus 6-1 at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.

The Golden Gusties skated out to a 3-0 lead after two periods of play before the Pointers Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) tallied the lone goal of the evening for UWSP, scoring shorthanded off a pass from Samantha Scheving (Warroad, MN/Warroad)

Gustavus' Amanda Cartony tacked on two more goals for the Gusties as they cruised to the four goal victory. 

Stacie Pomering tallied 46 saves in net including 20 in the second and 16 in the third, suffering the loss. Three goalies combined for the victory for the Gusties. 

UW-Stevens Point (13-8-2) closes out the regular season Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18 & 19 when they travel to Mequon for a match-up with the Falcons of Concordia University. 

The No. 4 seed in the upcoming Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) playoffs are on the line and an opening round home playoff series. 

Game time Friday is set for 7:30 p.m.
