Pointers tally four goals to defeat Stout

Box Score

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team posted a 4-1 victory on Friday evening at Dunn County Ice Arena over the Blue Devils of UW-Stout.

The win last Saturday evening, combined with the victory Friday mark the first back-to-back wins by the Pointers this season.

UW-Stevens Point Jumped in front 1-0 on a first period shorthanded goal by Chad Boeckman (St. Louis, MO/Wentzville Holt), his first score of the season.

In the second, Luke Nesper (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) tallied his third goal of the year, assisted by Will Aid and Kyle Heck (Plover, WI/SPASH) to give UWSP the two goal edge.

Dylan Wizner (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji) and Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) each tallied their first goals of the season in the second period as well to extend the Pointers lead to 4-0.

Stout added a power play goal late in the second period to cut the Pointer lead to 4-1 but Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) stopped all eight shots the Blue Devils put on target in the third to preserve the victory.

UW-Stevens Point out-shot the Blue Devils 47-33 on the night in a game marred by 21 penalties.

UWSP (4-6-2, 3-4-2 NCHA) and Stout (5-6-1, 2-4-1 NCHA) return to the ice Saturday evening in Menomonie for the final game of the weekend series between the two teams.
