STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team completed the sweep of the St. Norbert Green Knights Saturday as the Pointers skated to a 2-1 victory at Ice Hawks Arena.
UWSP took the lead in the first period and never looked back.
Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) found the back of the net at the 15:19 mark on the assist from
Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View).
The Pointers added to the lead early in the second period as
Ariel Novak (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) took advantage of a power play, scoring at 17:35 off assists from Salmen and
Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake).
St. Norbert cut the lead to one four minutes into the third, but the Pointer defense shut down the Green Knights for the remainder of the game.
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) recorded 22 saves on the night while St. Norbert's Katie Aluia tallied 25.
UWSP returns to the ice Dec. 9 and will host a weekend series with UW-Eau Claire starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Ice Hawks Arena.
