Falcons defeat tennis 6-3

RIVER FALLS – The UW-Stevens Point tennis team could not overcome an early 2-1 deficit after doubles play and fell to the Falcons of UW-River Falls 6-3 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women's tennis action Saturday morning. 

The doubles tandem of Allison Fortier (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) and Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) recorded the Pointers lone doubles victory as UWSP faced a 2-1 deficit heading into singles action. 

Fortier and Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) tallied the only singles victories as the Falcons recorded wins at No. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles to secure the conference victory. 

UW-Stevens Point (2-7, 1-3 WIAC) returns to action on Friday, Oct. 7 with a home match-up against UW-Eau Claire at Goerke Park.  Action is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
