LA CROSSE – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming & diving team swam its way to a victory over UW-La Crosse on Saturday afternoon, outpacing the Eagles 144-99. The women's team posted four first-place finishes but fell by a score of 144-99.
Highlights from the meet included:
The quartet of Diandra Nero, Jennifer Bussey, Lisa Clemens and Andrea Wagner posted a first place finish in the women's 400 medley relay with a time of 3:59.42.
In the men's portion of the event, it was the same result as the Pointer team of Matt Olp, Matt Teske, Ryan Farmer and Eric Emerson finished with a top time of 3:36.32.
BethAnn Abraham finished with the top time in the women's 1000 free, posting a time of 11:01.37
Sam Davy posted a time of 1:47.08 in the 200 free, good for a first place finish.
Ashley Majewski had the top time in the 50 free, 24.96.
Joey Clapp and Matt Olp finished 1-2 in the men's 50 free
Sam Betterley, AJ Sauers and Casey Murnane posted the top three times in the 200 IM, with Betterley leading the way with a time of 2:02.83
Sam Davy posted the top time in the 100 free with his time of 47.27
BethAnn Abraham posted the top time in the women's 500 free, 5:19.66
Sam Betterley, Vaughn Forsythe and Matt Teske finished 1-2-3 in the 200 breaststroke led by Betterley's time of 2:14.43
UWSP took home the top two spots in the 400 free relay, led by Lynam, Drexler, Clapp and Olp's time of 3:12.23.
The Pointers return to the pool Feb. 4-5 when they head to Minneapolis for the University of Minnesota Challenge, the team's final tune-up before the WIAC Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 17-19 in Brown Deer, Wis.
