Tennis Falls to River Falls, 5-4

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team was unable to turn a 2-1 lead after doubles, dropping a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match 5-4 to the Falcons of UW-River Falls.

The teams of Rachel Brown and Taylor Weuve secured an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles and Monica Preisig and Allison Fortier added an 8-6 win at No. 3 to give the Pointers a 2-1 lead.

But when the team's took to the indoor courts at SentryWorld, it was all Falcons, as the Pointers only wins came from Leah Benn at No. 5 and Fortier at No. 6 as the Pointers dropped fell to 4-3, 1-2 in the WIAC.

The Pointers return to action on Oct. 1 when they travel to UW-Eau Claire for a match-up with the Blugolds, scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
