BELOIT – Down 2-1 after doubles, the Pointer women's tennis team came storming back in singles action, capturing five of the six matches to earn the 6-3 victory over Buccaneers of Beloit College in nonconference action Sunday morning.
The Pointers lone win at doubles came from the tandem of
Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) and
Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble), who recorded an 8-6 victory.
In singles, needing at least four wins, the Pointers collected five including three straight set victories and two third set tiebreaks, a 6-3, 5-7, 12-10 victory by
Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) and a 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 win by
Katelyn Presti (Janesville, WI/Parker), to earn the team a victory.
UW-Stevens Point (4-2) returns to action on will take to the courts again on Friday, Sept. 24 in a 3:30 p.m. match-up with UW-River Falls.
