Pointers Remain Unbeaten with Win Over Tommies

Box Score

STEVENS POINT- The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team finished off a weekend sweep of St. Thomas by defeating the Tommies 2-1 at Ice Hawks Arena on Saturday.  The win kept the Pointers unbeaten on the season.

Pointer goalkeeper Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) continued her great play in goal as she improved her record to 4-0.  Pomering finished the day with 17 saves.

Erika Greenen (Naperville, IL/Central) got the scoring started for the Pointers as she scored an unassisted goal with just under six minutes remaining in the first period to put the Pointers on top 1-0.

Sam Lorr (Chisago, MN/Chisago Lakes) gave the Pointers a little bit of breathing room, scoring off a pass from Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) to put the Pointers on top 2-0.

St. Thomas put themselves back within a goal with 2:19 left in the game as Kayla Keys put one past Pomering making the score 2-1.

The Pointers were able to hold off the Tommies the rest of the way to pick up the victory and remain unbeaten.

The Pointers will return to action on Friday, Nov. 19 night when they host first-year program St. Norbert at Ice Hawks Arena.  Faceoff for that game is set for 7:00 p.m.
