Men, Women Finish First at La Crosse Relays

LA CROSSE – The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up victories on Saturday afternoon, as the men's team outpaced St. Olaf College and the women swam past UW-La Crosse at the 2010 La Cross Relays. 

The men's team earned victories in seven different events while the women won four. 

Highlights from the men's side included the men's 400 medley relay team, who outpaced the field by over three seconds, finishing in a time of 3:32.43. The men's 200 free relay also finished first with a time of 1:25.96. 

Also earning first place finishes on the day was the men's 200 medley relay team, 300 fly relay, men's 300 back 3x100 relay, 300 breast 3x100 relay and 400 free relay. 

On the women's side, the women's 1500 free 3x500 relay finished first 15:42.22, almost 40 seconds faster than the team from UW-Whitewater. Also earning victories on the day were the 300 breast 3x100 relay team, the 300 fly 3x100 relay team and the 200 free relay team, who posted a time of 1:38.57.   The diving tandem of  Anna Nyland and Elizabeth Schaeffer also picked up wins for the Pointers in both the 1 and 3 meter diving events. 

The Pointers return to the pool for the Wheaton (Ill.) Invite on December 3-4. The Pointer divers will also hit the pool on Dec. 4 at the UW-Stevens Point Diving Invite.
