GREEN BAY – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead and held off a late St. Norbert charge to push their record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in NCHA play with a 3-2 victory over the Green Knights at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights opened the scoring at the 14 minute mark of the opening period as Karissa Anderson scored on the power play, giving St. Norbert the 1-0 edge.
Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) evened the score at the 18:41 mark of the first period, her second goal of the year, off a pass from Sarah Dusold (Shoreview, MN/Irondale).
Marvin added another goal in the second period, this time on the power play, this time off a pass from Samantha Scheving (Warroad, MN/Warroad), putting the Pointers in front 2-1.
1:22 into the third, Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season to give the Pointers a 3-1 advantage on the road.
St. Norbert scored on a power play opportunity at the 5:28 mark, as Anderson again found the back of the net, cutting the UW-Stevens Point lead to just one, 3-2.
Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) and the Pointer defense held on the rest of the way, as Pomering tallied 10 of her 29 saves in the third period to keep the Pointers perfect.
The Pointers (6-0, 2-0 NCHA) return to action when they host conference foe Lake Forest College on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in a 7 p.m. game at Ice Hawks Arena in Stevens Point.
