STEVENS POINT - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point baseball team salvaged to split a doubleheader against St. Norbert College at University Field Saturday afternoon. The Pointers (9-3) fell 6-1 in game one before putting together an 11-1 victory in a ten-run rule shortened second game.

St. Norbert pitcher Trevin Hillesheim kept the UW-Stevens Point offense quiet in game one, going seven and a third innings, allowing six hits while recording six strikeouts. Kevin Thomas (Oshkosh, West) picked up the lone RBI for the Pointers with a single in the sixth inning which scored Brad Archambeau (Watertown).

Tyler Lorenz (Pembine, Pembine-Goodman) was charged with the loss for the Pointers after allowing six hits and three earned runs in five innings. Jeff Zielke (Watertown) threw four strong relief innings, serving up three hits, no walks and one run.

The UW-Stevens Point offense came alive in the second game, scoring six runs in the fourth inning and four more in the seventh. Both Cody Koback (Plover, SPASH) and Jeremy Richter (Rosholt) tripled after Jared Surman (Kimberly) led off the fourth inning with a double, which helped knock out St. Norbert starter Bryan Stoppenbach after just three and two thirds innings. The Pointers collected four singles, two hit by pitches and a walk in the seventh which scored four runs and ended the game.

Joel Delorit (Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door) and Garrett Nix (Osseo, Osseo-Fairchild) combined to give up six hits and three walks while striking out six in seven innings in game two.

Koback collected four hits and a stolen base on the day while Archambeau added three hits.
