Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN) scored her fourth goal of the season 3:36 into the third period and
Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL) recorded 15 of her 42 saves in the third period and overtime to help the Pointers to a 4-4 tie of tenth-ranked Lake Forest College on Sunday afternoon in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.
Tied 1-1 after the first period, the Foresters struck just 19 seconds into the second, taking a 2-1 advantage.
Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN) answered at the 2:33 mark of the second period, scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season to again tie the score.
The Foresters answered with two goals midway through the second to again take the lead and put the Pointers down 4-2.
Facing the prospect of dropping back-to-back games for the first time since February,
Sarah Dusold (Shoreview, MN) and Marvin responded. Dusold tallied a power play goal at the 12:53 mark of the second and Marvin struck on the power play in the third to tie the game at 4-4 and force overtime.
Lake Forest out-shot the Pointers 5-2 in the overtime period but Pomering stopped them all to force the 4-4 tie.
UW-Stevens Point (7-3-1, 2-1-1 NCHA) will return to action after the holiday break when they play host to nonconference rival Gustavus Adolphus in action at Ice Hawks Arena at 3 p.m. on Jan. 9.
