LAKE FOREST – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team suffered their first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) loss of the 2009-10 season on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-1 to the 10th-ranked Foresters of Lake Forest College.
The Foresters took a 1-0 lead into the second period before tacking on four second period goals to take a 5-0 lead against the Pointers. In the third, the Foresters added a power play goal at the 17:30 mark before the Pointers added a goal with nine seconds remaining to make the final 6-1.
d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI) suffered the loss for the Pointers in net, stopping 19 shots while allowing four goals.
Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL) added 19 saves in mop-up time in the second and third periods.
UW-Stevens Point (7-3, 2-1 NCHA) and Lake Forest (8-0-1, 4-0-1 NCHA) return to action on Sunday in the final game of the weekend series.
