University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Athletics

Dr. DeWeerd was the UWSP team physician from 1978 to 2010 on a voluntary basis. As a full-time orthopedic surgeon, he provided on-campus weekly clinics for student-athletes and spent countless hours of game coverage at football and men's hockey games. He was integral to the development of the athletic training program at UWSP. He was awarded an honorary membership into the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association in 2008 for his dedication to athletic training and student-athletes.
