Pointers Wrap-up Last Chance Meets; Fujino Ties School Record

STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up last chance meets this week.
 
Monday- St. Norbert College Last Chance Meet Results
Pointers men and women's throwers competed in St. Norbert College Last Chance Meet on Monday evening. Jack Marsh (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) placed third in the discus with a mark of 46.62 meters, with Jorden Ukpong (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) just behind with a mark of 46.41 meters. Abby Rudrud (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) took fourth place in the shot put with a heave of 12.15 meters. Ukpong placed second in the shot put with a toss of 15.99 meters. Jacob McConnell (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) secured a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.54 meters.
 
Wednesday and Thursday- St. Olaf Manitou Last Chance Mult Results
Gracie Ridgway (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) competed in the Manitou Last Chance Multi on Wednesday and Thursday. She placed second with an overall score of 4366.
 
Thursday- UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier Results
The remaining Pointers looking to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships traveled to La Crosse on Thursday. Melanie Princl (West Bend, Wis./West) claimed seventh place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.90. Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville) took 11th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.27. Will Garcia-Heinrich (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.32. Emma Groff (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) crossed the line at 2:16.84 to take 13th place in the 800-meter run. Ben Cihasky (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) placed 13th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.25. Adam Eiden (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli Catholic) took 12th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:53.63. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West), Ben Kempe (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Matthew Jokela (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell) and Simeion Harris (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:12.48. Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) tied for first place in the high jump with a leap of 1.64 meters. Gavin Fujino (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake) tied the current school record in pole vault with a mark of 5.01 meters. Amado Espinosa (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.82 meters. Jack Gjovik (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) claimed second place in the triple jump with a mark of 14.43 meters. Marsh finished 10th in the discus throw with a toss of 48.50 meters. Michela Silich took 14th in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.06 meters. Jacob McConnell (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) claimed eighth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.77 meters. Brenna Steinagel (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) placed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 37.92 meters. Rudrud took 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 11.06 meters. Ukpong secured a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 15.52 meters.
 
The Pointers will hear their NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships fate tomorrow (May 15). The Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wis.
