PLATTEVILLE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Platteville Invitational.
Results
Thomas Nelson (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) won the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:46.99.
The men also had top-five finishes from
Jack Gjovik (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines),
Will Garcia-Heinrich (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee),
Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville),
Tyler Nosko (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka),
Kaedon Welte (Byron, Ill./Byron) and
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus).
Gjovik finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.97 meters.
Garcia-Heinrich finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.00.
Ploederl took fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.90 meters.
Nosko posted a time of 4:04.52 to finish fourth in the 1500-meter run.
Welte tied for fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 45.45 meters.
Rennhack finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.31 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville), Nosko,
Adam Zinn (Woodstock, Ill./North) and
Bennett Krause (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) took fifth place with a time of 3:25.07.
The women had a sixth-place finish from
Melanie Princl (West Bend, Wis./West). She finished the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.99.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Jaimie Deschand (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac),
Kya Smith (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa),
Audrey Rabitz (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and Princl took sixth with a time of 4:07.22.
The UWSP men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Thursday (Apr. 17) for day one of the Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse.
